Sephora VIB Sample Bag!

Sephora recently revamped their Beauty Insiders program, adding a new top tier: VIB Rouge. To celebrate, they offered bonus points on all purchases last week. They also have a bonus sample bag for VIB Beauty Insiders, shown above. This bag of deluxe samples is free with any $35 purchase!  (See how to get it below!)

Here is a peek at what I got in mine.

Mine contained: (besides the cute black & white zig zag bag)
  • Benefit The POREfessional - 0.1oz
  • Buxom Full On Lip Polish in Dolly - 0.07oz
  • First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser - 1oz
  • Hanae Mori Fragrance Sample - 0.04oz
  • Laura Mercier Full Blown Volume Lash Building Mascara - 0.2oz
  • L'Occitane En Provence Dry Skin Hand Cream - 0.3oz
  • Sephora Collection Colorful Eyeshadow in #56 Queen for a Day - 0.071oz
  • Sephora Collection Age Defy Moisture Cream SPF 15 - 0.169oz
  • Stila Lip Glaze in Apricot - 0.05oz

Here is what the fine print in the emails I received said it comes with:
"The VIB Celebration Bag includes the following 9 samples: Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional (0.25 oz), Buxom Full-On Lip Polish Dolly (0.07 oz), Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 Nude (0.5 oz), Stila Lip Glaze Apricot (0.05 oz), Hanae Mori Butterfly Eau de Toilette (0.04 oz), Sephora Collection Age Defy Moisture Cream SPF 15 (0.17 oz), L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream (0.34 oz), First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser (1 oz), Sephora Collection Colorful Eyeshadow #56 (0.07 oz)."

So mine varies from what is listed on two items. The Laura Mercier product I got is a mascara, not a tinted moisturizer. The Hanae Mori fragrance I got smells very masculine and just says Hanae Mori on it. I'm thinking it might be the men's version? I don't think it is Butterfly though. When I searched on Google, all the Butterfly samples I found were white tubes. Mine is black. Everything else I got was just as listed. The fine print in the email does say that contents of the bags and even the bags themselves can vary.

How to get this bag:
To get it with an online purchase, log into your VIB account and add $35 or more worth of merchandise to your cart. Then apply code WELOVEVIBS.

To redeem the offer in stores, show them your email (You can print a copy or show it on your mobile phone) or simply mention it. (The fine print in the email says you can do this, just mention the VIB celebration bag.)

My understanding based off the fine print in the emails I received is that there is no specific end date for this but that it is "while supplies last."I did get some conflicting information on how long this promotion runs  (see my story below) but as of right now, I am still able to use the code to add it to my shopping cart on Sephora.com.

My experience getting the bag:
I got the first email for this last week, on August 16th. I got another email on Sunday, the 18th. I had made two trips to Sephora last weekend and didn't see either email until I got home after visiting Sephora on Sunday. I went back on Tuesday with my receipts to ask about the sample bag and I was hopeful I could still get one. I first went into the Sephora inside JC Penney since it was closest to where I parked. The gal that I talked to there told me the promotion ended on Sunday the 18th. (It was now Tuesday the 20th.) She said she could still give me one but that it would be at least 10-15 minutes because she had put all the bags away since the promotion was over. (This sounded weird to me, as in the emails it says "while supplies last" and doesn't have an end date.) She ended up calling the Sephora store that was in the same mall and they still had some so she sent me there.

When I walked in, I let them know that I had made two separate shopping trips over the weekend and hadn't received a bag. The girl that helped me at the Sephora store was super nice, said she didn't need to see my receipts or anything and gave me a sample bag. She actually thanked me for coming back in to get it too. As a side note, while I was there picking up my sample bag, the girl making a purchase ahead of me was given one without mentioning it and told it was a thank you for being a Beauty Insider.

So basically, after all that, I don't know what the deal is exactly. I had two completely different experiences between the Sephora inside JCP and the stand alone store. I don't know if the rules of the promotion were different between the two, but I think that from this experience, I will stick to the stand alone store. They were much friendlier and more helpful.

The rest of the fine print from the emails I received, in case you were wondering:
"Sample assortment varies at Sephora inside jcpenney stores. Offer is available online or in Sephora stores with any merchandise purchase of $35 USD or more. One per client, non-transferable. Must be VIB to redeem offer. Samples may vary. Valid while supplies last, quantities are limited. Not valid on previous purchases, or purchases of eGift certificates or gift cards. Cannot be used in conjunction with other promotion codes. Sephora employees are not eligible for offer. No returns or exchanges. This offer is subject to change, alteration, or termination by Sephora in its sole discretion at any time."

Happy Shopping! :)
