Favorite Urban Decay Products

Hey there!

Since Ulta just sent out a coupon to their beauty club members for 20% off Urban Decay, I thought now might be a good time to talk about a few of my favorite products from the brand. UD is definitely one of my favorite eyeshadows, actually they are probably tied for first place with my MAC eyeshadows. (If I only had to pick one brand to use again for the rest of my life, it would be a really tough choice and I don't know if I could do it! haha!) So if you are trying to decide what to use your coupon on, here are my recommendations based on products I use or have used.

Here is a quick cell phone picture I took of a few of my favorite UD products that I use often. (Sorry for the crappy cell phone picture, I am in the market for a new camera at the moment!)

The Urban Decay Naked Palette.

Naked Palette, $50.
This is my go to palette for travel because it it compact and fits right in my makeup bag with everything else. It has a good range of colors for a neutral palette, you are able to pull off a natural look, a golden look, a rosy look and a smokey look with the colors in this palette. Back when I got my Naked Palette, it came with an eyeliner instead of a makeup brush. But, if you are traveling lightly and bringing your own eyeshadow brushes anyway, an eyeliner will still fit in the slot where the makeup brush goes. It also comes with a travel size Primer Potion, which is another product I love!
There is a Naked2 palette as well, and I have both but I find I only use a couple of colors in the Naked2 palette regularly, where I use most of the colors in the original Naked palette. The Naked2 is supposed to be more cool toned and the Naked palette is more warm toned, and I would describe myself as usually looking better in cool toned colors but somehow the Naked palette is still my favorite of the two!

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Singles.

Eyeshadow Singles, $18.
I love Urban Decay eyeshadow in general, whether in palettes or singles. I have several of their vintage eyeshadow singles (they changed the packaging in the last year to accommodate their customizable palettes.) If you are not wanting to buy a palette because you only want to try one or two colors first or maybe you don't know if you would use enough colors in it,  these might be a good alternative for you. You can get the Build Your Own palettes in a 4-pan or 6-pan style, and the eyeshadow pans pop out of these singles and into the palettes in any combination you want. I don't see the Build Your Own palettes on the Ulta website, but I have seen them in store. Personally, I am not a big fan of these palettes - they are just a little big, plastic-y and clunky in my opinion - so any singles I continue to purchase will just remain singles. But that doesn't take away from the quality of the eyeshadow in any way! If you want to see good swatches of Urban Decay eyeshadows before you buy them, check out the swatch gallery on Temptalia!

My Picks: Omen (bright metallic purple with blue shift), Darkhorse (deep mocha), Half Baked (golden bronze), Verve (oyster), Toasted (shimmery antique copper penny), Sin (champagne), Woodstock (saturated deep pink)
I want to try: Maui Wowie (metallic golden beige with silver glitter) and Mushroom (warm pale gray)

Urban Decay Lip Junkie Lipgloss.

Lip Junkie Lipgloss, $19.
I only have a couple samples of these at the moment, I had a full size of the shade Wallflower and I loved that lipgloss! But alas, I lost it at some point. I have been waiting for a good sale to repurchase it (Maybe I just figured out what I should use my own 20% off coupon on!) These have a sheer wash of color, at least the shades I have used do. Some have glitter, some just have shine. They have a fresh, minty scent that makes your lips tingle a little, so if you are not a fan of tingly lipglosses then these probably aren't for you. I on the other hand, love it! They seem to last the average amount of time for lipgloss, but I'm not the best judge of that anyway because I am always sipping on an iced coffee or water bottle and wearing off my gloss that way. I'm somewhat of a chronic lipgloss re-applyer. But hey, that way you get to refresh the tingle! :)

My Picks: Wallflower (nude creamy pink) and Crush (bright hot pink)
I want to try: Obsessed (creamy baby pink), Naked 2 (light sheer beige) and Peroxide (light pink)

Urban Decay Primer Potions in Eden (matte) and Original.
photos from Ulta.com

Primer Potion, $20.
This has been my favorite eyeshadow primer for a couple of years now, since I discovered it. (Thanks to YouTube and makeup blogs!) I have used up an Original already and I think one or two sample sizes of the original that came with various palettes. I am currently working on an XL sized Primer Potion in Eden. I think I like Eden better of the two, it is a nude matte shade when applied and I feel like it evens out the color of my eyelid nicely as a base for my eyeshadow. The original goes on invisible and works great too, I just prefer having the nice nude base Eden provides to start with. There are two other colors, Sin (champagne shimmer) and Greed (shimmering yellow gold) as well. I don't have much experience with those but I am sure they work just as great.

My Pick: Eden (nude matte)

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil.
Photo from Ulta.com

24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil, $19.
Okay, so I have never actually purchased a full size of one of these. I have several sample sizes and double ended 24/7 pencils that came in sets or palettes, and I do use them from time to time. They work great, so I wanted to mention them. However, because I don't like the mess of sharpening pencils, and I'm kinda lazy (lol!), I tend to prefer mechanical pencils - the kind that twist up. If the sharpening doesn't bother you, these have rave reviews all over the makeup world and might be worth a try for you. Check out some swatches of many of the colors available on Temptalia.
