From My Inbox: Coupons & Sales

As I was going through my inbox this morning, I realized there are a bunch of coupon codes and sales I have received emails about. Some of the brands on sale, I have no experience with and cannot personally recommend. I would suggest checking out reviews of those brands or products if you are interested in trying them out. I know I research new (to me) products to death before I buy and try them! :) Anyway, here they all are for you to take advantage of if you so choose!
Note: I did include personal invite links on some of the sale websites. This will give me a $$ credit if you sign up when you make your first purchase. I believe most of the sale websites anyone can sign up for now, but you used to only be able to sign up if you were invited. Just in case you need the invite link, they are there!

ELF Mineral Makeup Groupon is back!

screen shot from Groupon.com. Click Here to purchase!

If you missed the ELF Mineral Makeup Groupon the other couple of times, now is your chance! Once again it is only $15 for $35 worth of Mineral Makeup. Their mineral eyeshadows are excellent, as are the mineral lipglosses. See my reviews: ELF Mineral Eyeshadows, ELF Mineral Lipglosses. The mineral eyeshadow brush is one of my favorites too, I posted about it HERE. You can also read about my first ELF Groupon purchase. In that post I talked about what products I purchased and how I liked them.

Here are a few of my favorite ELF Mineral Products:
Mineral Eyeshadow Some of my favorites are Innocent, Celebrity, Confident, Caffeinated and Socialite.
Mineral Lipgloss I have only two of these, Trendsetter and Wild. I really like both of them.
Mineral Brushes I only have the All Over Eyeshadow Brush, but it works well for all over color.

I purchased one last month when they had the deal, and still haven't used it. Actually, I forgot about it until I saw this deal pop up again! Oops! I will be using mine to try some of the mineral lipsticks, foundation and possibly more brushes. I may want to give their eyeliner and eyeshadow primer a try too... I will do a post about my order once I decide, and of course I will let you know what I think when my order arrives!

Remember, you will still have to pay shipping ($6.95) because the Groupon excludes shipping costs. You are not able to use any other coupon codes with this deal. To use the Groupon you paste the Groupon code into the coupon code box at check out on the ELF Website. This Groupon is valid from 8/20/11 until 2/19/12.

Best Deals of the Week

I know I just posted the sales for the week HERE, but I wanted to specifically draw your attention to these. There are many brands on sale this week but most are the usual BOGO 1/2 Off. Here are a couple deals I think are especially great, and not so typical.

screen shot from Kmart.com

Kmart has Wet n Wild, Milani and Jordana at BOGO Free. (Also Kiss Nails kits if that interests you, I have not used these before.) You can't combine the brands, so if you buy one Wet n Wild item, you get one Wet n Wild item free. Basically, you will have to pick out an even number of items from each brand you are interested in trying to take advantage of the sale price. Anything BOGO Free is a good deal if you want/need that product. That equals 50% Off and is probably the lowest sale price you will see. If you are able to combine a coupon with a BOGO Free or 50% Off sale, even better! (I wish I knew of some coupons for these brands to link for you, but I don't think they usually have coupons.)
A few things I think are worth checking out during this sale: I'm sure you know by now that I love Wet n Wild eyeshadows. Read the latest reviews I posted for the 6-Pan Palettes HERE. If you were interested in purchasing the 6-Pan Palettes before they get discontinued, the price is right this week! Milani has really nice baked blushes, read about the one I tried HERE. After trying that blush from the giveaway, I would love to try more. I have used their baked eyeshadows before too and liked them. Jordana has great lip and eyeliners for really inexpensive.

screen shot from
walgreens.com

Revlon Nail Polishes are on sale for $3.99 at Walgreens. BUT, then you get $3 in Register Rewards to spend next time. It's like paying $0.99 each. I am not sure of any limit on this, the fine print says limit one coupon per offer but nothing about how many nail polishes you can purchase at this price. It does exclude Top Speed and nail treatments. If you have the $1 Off coupon from yesterday's Sunday paper, you can get these for free! I just bought some of the scented nail polishes last week and am loving them. The scents are kinda fun and there are great colors for summer.

Happy Shopping!

Swatched: Revlon Scented Nail Enamel

How fun are these? I kinda feel like a kid for buying scented nail polish, but what actually drew me to these was the colors. The colors shown above are (from left to right) Not So Blueberry, Grapefruit Fizz and Beach. I had been eyeing Grapefruit Fizz and Beach several times when I saw them in stores, so I decided to finally get them when Fred Meyer had a B2GO Free sale on Revlon nail color a couple weeks ago.

Not So Blueberry and Beach are both part of the regular line of scented nail polish, and Grapefruit Fizz was on a display with other fizzy themed scents and matching lip glosses. I have tried to find information online about whether or not these are limited edition. From what I have seen, I think they used to be limited edition for each summer, but I know there is a permanent spot in the Revlon Nail Polish display for them. I assume that the Grapefruit Fizz and other fizzy scents are limited edition for this summer and the rest are permanent. If I am able to find more information on this I will update.
L-R: Not So Blueberry, Grapefruit Fizz, Beach
Not So Blueberry is a purplish periwinkle color with a silver sheen to it. The scent smells like candy blueberry.
Grapefruit Fizz is a pink jelly base with pink and silver iridescent glitter in it. Some of it seems to reflect slightly gold too. The scent smells like sweetened grapefruit.
Beach is a bright lime green with a yellow sheen. It smells like sunscreen and saltwater.

In the above swatches, I tried to give you several different views and light sources. I applied 2 coats of each nail polish with no base or top coat. I have only worn Beach as a full manicure. The scent lasted probably about 5 days, and it was actually fairly chip resistant too. I didn't wear a top coat with it because I didn't want to cover up the scent. (I read online today that wearing a topcoat with these shouldn't cover the scent, you will still be able to smell it.) The color is really pretty and I got several compliments on it. Based on the smell, my favorite is Not So Blueberry. I love the color of Beach and Not So Blueberry. Grapefruit Fizz is my least favorite of the three so far, but I might like it better with more than 2 coats.

These retail for $4.99 each regular price. You should be able to find them wherever you normally buy Revlon. I have seen them at Fred Meyer, Walgreens, Bartell Drugs and Rite Aid.  Look for sales too, I know Relvon nail color is 30% Off at Bartell Drugs this week.

Still looking for Wet n Wild Dreamweavers?

If you are still on the hunt for the Limited Edition Dreamweavers eyeshadow trios from Wet n Wild, you should check out the interactive map G created on Nouveau Cheap. G allows readers to add markers to this map for locations they have seen the trios at. Many people who have added markers to the map also detail which trios they saw and how many.

Click Here to go to the map!

I think this is a good idea and I am so glad she came up with it. It would be great if she or someone else was able to create interactive maps like this for other limited edition makeup collections, or anything else that is hard to find. (It would have been nice to have one for the Urban Decay Naked Palette. Man that one was hard to track down several months back! Of course now you see it everywhere...)

Near where I live, these haven't been that hard to find. I have still seen every one of the trios available somewhere in the last week. Fred Meyers and Rite Aid seem to have the best selection still available in my town.

If you are looking for these, definitely check out the map. If you locate the collection somewhere, be sure to add your own markers to the map for the next person!

Good Luck & Happy Shopping! :)

Swatched: LE Wet n Wild Snow Sprite Palette

Even though this palette is Limited Edition from Holiday 2010, I wanted to go ahead and post swatches for it. I purchased this at Fred Meyer at the end of July. How this was left at least 7 months after they were originally put on shelves, I have no idea. I actually saw it probably a month before I bought it. As I have mentioned in other posts, I am not super into blue eyeshadows, so I kept looking at this but not buying it. There were actually two of them on the shelf at this time. The day I bought it, the other one had already been purchased so this was the last one. I was really interested in the middle green shade, so I decided to just get it. There were four different holiday palettes each packaged with a different color of eyeliner. I assume this must have been less popular than the others for it to still have been on a shelf at Fred Meyer so many months later for me to buy.

This is different than the regular 6-Pan palettes because all 6 shades are shimmery. It came with a metallic silver eyeliner. After having swatched the eyeshadow, I think my favorite is the middle shade of green. I also really like the darkest blue, I think it would be good as a liner or defining the crease. I was a little disappointed in the two lighter shades of blue, they look much different in the pan than they do applied. Once applied you could hardly tell the difference. The pencil liner is cool I guess, but I don't use pencils for eyeliner too often so I probably wont use it much. It is my first silver eyeliner though, so I may have to try it out just to see what it looks like on.

Overall, I am happy with my purchase. It was worth getting in case I ended up liking a few colors and because that was probably my last chance to buy it. I do look forward to what the holiday collections will be like this year. If you are interested in this palette, you can always take a look in the clearance area at a store near you that sells Wet n Wild. Hopefully you will get lucky too!

This palette was $4.99, the same as the core collection 6-pan palettes.

Swatched: Wet n Wild Vanity Palette

Last of the core collection Color Icon 6-Pan Palettes from Wet n Wild (but definitely not least) is Vanity. This palette is variations of brown and gold. Same as the rest, it has three matte and three shimmers. The matte shades are pale nude, light brown and dark brown. The lightest shade pretty much blends right in with my skin right now. It is a little pinker but brightening. (Just in case you wanted to know how pale I am without self tanner. lol) The light brown shade reminds me of suede leather. It is a little on the warm side for a color I would normally wear, but I think I can get away with it. The dark brown is a dark ever so slightly reddish brown. The color reminds me of chocolate chips but that could be my sweet tooth talking. The shimmery shades included are a light yellow pearl, a yellow gold and a bronze. All three shimmery shades have a slight metallic finish. This palette is my second favorite of the four core collection palettes. I am pretty sure I will use all of these colors and somewhat often. The only one I am not so sure about is the matte light brown because, as I mentioned above, it is a little warm for me.

This palette, like the rest of the 6-Pan Palettes is $4.99 regular price. You should be able to find them wherever you normally buy Wet n Wild. These are supposed to be  discontinued in January 2012.

Swatched: Wet n Wild Lust Palette

This is the Wet n Wild Color Icon Palette in Lust. As you can see, it has pinks and purples. This is my favorite of the four core collection 6-pan palettes. You might have noticed from here, here, here or here that I kinda have a thing for purples and neutrals. As with the rest of the 6-pan palettes, there are three matte and three shimmery shades. The matte shades are a light pink, a deep pinkish purple and an eggplant color. The shimmery shades are a very pale pink with sparkle, a metallic gunmetal and black with purple sparkle.

To me, the least wearable is the matte pinkish purple shade, but I really like all the colors. My favorites are the pale sparkly pink, gunmetal and eggplant shades. In fact, I think the three of those would look really nice together in a look. (EOTD idea, perhaps??) The black with purple glitter doesn't blow me away but I think it might look good as eyeliner. The hint of glitter in it would give a slight purple sparkle, it could look cool. I definitely think I will get the most use out of this palette, and it is the first one that I think I might actually use all six colors often. Quality, texture and pigmentation are all excellent!

You can purchase this palette and the other 6-pan palettes for $4.99 and most places that carry Wet n Wild until they are discontinued in January 2012.

Swatched: Wet n Wild Pride Palette

The Wet n Wild Pride Palette is basically a matte and pearl version each of white, aqua and dark blue. As with all the palettes in the 6-Pan series, all the matte shades are on the left and the pearl ones are on the right. These were all nicely pigmented and easy to work with. This is probably my least favorite palette of the four, only because I don't tend to wear these colors that often. I do really like the matte white and the shimmery dark blue. My least favorite is probably the matte aqua color. To me, it just isn't a very wearable shade. That seems to be the trend with these first two palettes, this one and the Greed Palette. so far I like about half the colors in each one and probably wont use the rest. No worries though, at $4.99 regular price, it is still worth it even for only half the colors! These are available most places Wet n Wild is sold until they are discontinued in January 2012.

Wet n Wild Website

All swatches are swiped with my finger onto clean bare skin. No primers or base are used so that you may get an idea of the true color of the product and how it appears on skin.

Swatched: Wet n Wild Greed Palette

The Wet n Wild Color Icon Palette in "Greed" is a nice mix of neutral shades. As with all the 6-Pan Color Icon Palettes, the left column is matte shades and the right column is shimmery. The three matte colors are a soft nude, dark peach and matte black. This palette is the only one of the four 6-pan palettes that contains a matte black. The shimmery shades are periwinkle, peach and black. Both the periwinkle and peach shades have sort of a white gold sheen to them and the shimmery black has silver sparkle.

In my opinion, that periwinkle shade doesn't really go with the rest of the palette. As you can see in the photo, the middle and bottom rows of eyeshadows are a matte and shimmery version of similar shades. The periwinkle just looks a little out of place, but it is still a pretty color and a nice one to have. All of the colors are easy to work with. The shade I like the least in this palette is the matte dark peach. It doesn't look very wearable, at least not on me. I think my favorites are the matte black and the shimmery periwinkle and peach colors.

This palette is $4.99 regular price. These are available most places Wet n Wild is sold until they are discontinued in January 2012.

Wet n Wild Color Icon 6-Pan Palettes

During the last BOGO Free sale on Wet n Wild at Kmart, I finally purchased the Color Icon 6-Pan Palettes. These retail for $4.99 each regular price and I have seen them almost everywhere that has Wet n Wild. They do not have these at Walgreens because they currently carry 3 different 8-Pan Palettes that are exclusive to the store. This should not be the case for long, as G from Nouveau Cheap posted awhile ago that the 6-Pan Palettes are to be discontinued in January of 2012. The 8-Pan Palettes should start becoming more widely available, and there is also going to be a new all-matte 8-Pan Palette released later this year.

One of the things I love about these palettes is the mix of matte and shimmery shades. In each of the above palettes, the left column is all matte and the right is shimmery. This gives you enough variety to do many different looks. As I have learned with the Color Icon Trios, the saying "You get what you pay for" doesn't apply. These 6-Pan Palettes are another great example from Wet n Wild that you don't have to spend a lot of money to get a great quality product.

As you may know, Wet n Wild also releases Limited Edition palettes throughout the year for different seasons. Last year around Christmas they sold 4 different LE Holiday 6-Pan Palettes, each packaged with an eyeliner pencil. Surprisingly, I found one of these LE Holiday 2010 Palettes at Fred Meyer about 2 weeks ago. It is the Snow Sprite palette that comes with a silver eyeliner. I happened to browse the clearance shelf and there it was. I will include swatches of this 6-Pan Palette as well though you most likely won't be able to buy it unless you purchase it online somewhere. (Sorry!) I had seen swatches of all the Holiday Palettes from last year online prior to purchasing this one, but now actually having one makes me even more excited to see what they come up with this year.

Look for these at Rite Aid, Bartell Drugs, Kmart, Fred Meyer or wherever else you purchase Wet n Wild. At $4.99 regular price (or cheaper if you can find them on sale!) these palettes really are a great buy.

Note: I am going to post swatches for each palette in separate posts. I would like to update the posts later with looks I created using the products and and dupes I can find. I will link each separate post below as I create them.  :)

Swatched: Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick

These are the Wet n Wild lipsticks I have purchased over the last couple of months. I have seen these go on sale at least half a dozen times since March. Regular price, Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipsticks will only set you back $0.99. If you find them on sale, you can get them for even less. I have seen them priced at $0.69 each (including this week at Rite Aid) and even at $0.50 during a half off sale. These are widely available wherever you usually buy Wet n Wild. I don't believe I have seen a Wet n Wild display that didn't include at least a few shades of this lipstick.
These lipsticks are excellent, especially for the price. Long gone are the days of Wet n Wild being a pre-teen's favorite brand with weird colors, overly cheap packaging and poor quality. This goes for everything the brand has currently, as I have not yet been disappointed with a new product I have tried from them. These $0.99 lipsticks are no exception. It feels just like one of my MAC or Clinique lipsticks when I apply it, and it actually applies smoother than the Bare Escentuals lipstick I own. The BE lipstick is dry and tugs at the skin a little, where the Wet n Wild applies smoothly and creamy. Pigmentation is right in line with the more expensive brands as well. With 22 colors to choose from, there is sure to be a shade that will work for you. When you think about how much one of the more expensive lipsticks will cost you, for example $14.50 for a MAC lipstick, why not give these a shot instead? You will save lots of money and still get a great product.

Swatched: Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Palette

15 brand new eyeshadows from Urban Decay in a pretty keepsake box? Yes please! When I first saw swatches of this on Temptalia, I knew I would end up buying it. I watched it sell out on Urban Decay's website, then on Ulta's... Then I added it to my shopping cart on Sephora's website. Well I am a sucker for instant gratification and decided I didn't want to wait for it to get shipped here. I drove to my local Sephora instead. I had been reading online that most Sephora stores had these in stock, just not on display yet. You had to ask a sales associate about it, and if they had it they would sell it to you. My Sephora got these in stock at 5am on the day I went, and I was the first person to ask about it. I couldn't have picked a better day to go. On a side note, this purchase also pushed me into Beauty Insiders VIB status, so yay for more and better free samples! :)

One of the coolest things about this palette is that the tray containing the eyeshadow lifts out. Underneath is a velvet lined compartment. Once you use up the eyeshadow, you can pop out that tray and keep the box. You couldn't fit much in there with they eyeshadow tray still attached and it still isn't huge once the tray is taken out. It is a nice idea though. The velvet box that the palette comes packaged in (you can see it in the very top photo) is actually really nice looking as well. I think I will either keep the palette in it when I am not using it, or put it on my dresser to put things in. It can definitely be reused as well.

All swatches are swiped onto clean, bare skin with my finger.
No primers or base of any kind are used.
As you can see from the above swatches, all of these eyeshadows are amazingly pigmented. The texture and finish of all of them is great. (I am so in love! haha) I had read online that the one shade people had a hard time with was Tainted. They said it was slightly chalky. I didn't seem to have this problem at all. These shadows are all just as soft and buttery as every other Urban Decay eyeshadow I have used. If I wasn't already in love with Urban Decay before, this definitely did it. They show up just as well on your eyelid too. I wore Tainted, Junkshow and Half Truth yesterday and they lasted all day without creasing. (I did use UDPP with them yesterday, but all of my swatches above are without a base or primer.) Most of these colors are quite unique. I have been playing around with these and some other eyeshadows to see if I have any possible dupes for this palette. So far, I can't seem to find anything too close. If I do find any good dupes, I will post of course! Here are a few more views of the gorgeous packaging and shadows.

Swatched: ELF Mineral Lipglosses

Here are photos of ELF Mineral Lipglosses in Wild and Trendsetter. These both applied really smoothly and had a nice texture. Wild was a little more sheer than I expected, simply because it is so bright in the tube. You do still get a nice peachy pink color, just not as bright as I would have thought. Trendsetter is more of a pinky bronze color and you get slightly more color payoff with this one. Both are great to wear alone but can also really enhance the look of a lipstick. I think Wild would look really nice over MAC Hibiscus from the summer Surf Baby collection, I will have to test that out. :)

At $3 regular price, these are a great buy. If you bought the ELF Groupon last month, a shade of this lipgloss might be a good product to try out with it! (If you missed the Groupon, don't worry, I am sure they will do it again!) You can almost always find a coupon to get a discount as well, check RetailMeNot before you make any purchases! :)

July Favorites!

Okay, so I know I am a few days late on this one. But, I found some really good products last month so I wanted to make sure and share them. These are me favorite new products from July, and a couple I wish I hadn't bought. :)

Urban Decay Loose Pigments:
I actually purchased these at the end of June, but didn't get around to using them until about two weeks ago. While the packaging on these isn't great and can get a bit messy, the product itself is awesome. These loose eyeshadows are highly pigmented, blend well and last long. As I explained in my post about these, I found it easier to use them when I transferred the pigments to small sifter jars and used a regular makeup brush. If you don't mind trying to work with the original packaging or transferring them into something else, I highly recommend these. Especially with their current sale price at Urban Decay, $5 each!

Wet n Wild Color Icon Bronzer in Goddess:
I have quite a few bronzers at this point, but I have found that most of them have shimmer. I wanted a bronzer that was matte for when I didn't want shimmer and I found it with this product. This bronzer looks really natural, even on my light skin. I lightly dust it on and it gives me just the right amount of color. This is a great buy at $2.99 and is widely available. I bought mine at Fred Meyer during a BOGO 1/2 Off Sale, but this week Kmart has Wet n Wild on sale for BOGO Free!

Essence Color & Go Nail Polish:
I only have 3 of these so far, but I love them! These little guys are $0.99 each and you can find them at Fred Meyer, Ulta or HEB. These apply smoothly and dry fairly quickly. (A little Seche Vite top coat always helps!) I bought these in Irreplaceable, Choose Me! and What Do You Think? and I love them all. These definitely rival more expensive nail polish in quality. You can see my swatch of Irreplaceable Here.

Bonne Bell lipLites in Cappuccino:
This is another product that I actually bought awhile ago and didn't really start using until last month. I used to use these back in high school and I still think they are great today. I never had this specific color until recently, but I have also used Creme Pop and a berry one. It might have been Frosted Berry? I am not sure as the name is worn off now and the Frosted Berry they now sell looks different. Back to Cappuccino: I really like this color and the way it smells. This lipgloss is semi opaque and creamy so you get a subtle color. It looks great on its own or over lipsticks. I look forward to repurchasing more colors that I used to have. These should be around $4 depending on where you buy them from and if you get them on sale. I believe I got mine at Fred Meyer and paid $3.99.

As for products I regret buying, here are the two I could come up with. This is kind of a stretch because it's not that these are bad products, they just didn't live up to my expectations. :)

Revlon Quick Dry Base Coat:
I finally decided to try using a base coat with my nail polish and this is the one I purchased. Well, I am back to not using a base coat after just one time of trying this. I felt like this made it more difficult to evenly apply my nail color. I don't know if I used too much, or did it wrong or what, but it just didn't work for me. Luckily, it was only $4.99 on sale at Walgreens.

Wet n Wild Mega Slicks Lip Gloss in Cotton Candy:
I was so excited to try this, and so sad when I did. It looks like a sheer bright hot pink in the tube but it goes on pretty much clear. I was hoping for a sheer hot pink pop of color but got nothing like that. I am sure I will still use it when I just want to add some shiny gloss over a lipstick, but that is about all it will be good for. I love all the other Mega Slicks Lip Glosses I have so this was kind of a let down. I think paid $2.19 for this at Walgreens, so again, no big loss just disappointment.

Have you used any of these products? What did you think of them? If you have any recommendations for a good base coat, or have any idea what I might have done wrong with this one, let me know! :)

Coming Soon... UD 15th Anniversary Palette

the back of the packaging for the UD 15th Anniversary Palette
I purchased this at my local Sephora today! I bought the first one, as they had not yet put them on display so I had to ask for it. I am so excited to try out these new colors! I love Urban Decay already and I am sure this new palette will be just as amazing as the rest! I will post swatches, reviews and any possible dupes I can find soon.
This palette is $55 and is available at Sephora, Ulta and Urban Decay. Last I checked, all three websites had them in stock but they are selling fast! You can also check in store at Sephora or Ulta, but you may have to ask a sales associate if you don't see them on display.
Happy Shopping! :)

SWATCHES now up! :)
