Swatched: Milani Baked Blush in Terra Sole

Back in June, I told you about Milani's Free Baked Blush giveaway on Facebook. Milani says on their Facebook page that all the free baked blushes have been sent out, but I know from reading comments that some people are just now getting theirs. If you entered and didn't get one yet, it may still be on the way.

When I first saw the color, I wasn't sure what to think. It just didn't look like a color that I would be able to wear. It is a matte terra cotta color. That is the best way I can describe the color because it looks so much like actual terra cotta. This is why it sat in my makeup drawer until last night when I decided to pull it out and finally take some photos. Once I actually swatched it, I was pleasantly surprised. I think that if applied with a light hand, I will be able to wear this. I applied it to my face and found I was correct. It looks really nice on, and I think it would look really good on tanned skin. (Mine is so not... This has got to be the rainiest July ever in WA!)

The pigmentation is great and the texture is nice and soft. In the swatch photo above, it is applied with my finger on my clean bare skin on the left and also blended with my finger on the right side. When I applied it to my face, I used my ELF Studio Blush Brush and it was really easy to blend in. The compact looks a little cheap to me, but personally I am not a big fan of fake plastic gold like the lid on this. The gold lid has a shiny finish which makes is show fingerprints. What is cool about the compact is the different levels. Once you open the lid, there is the baked blush. But, flip up the baked blush and there is a compartment with a little brush in it and a mirror. Unfortunately, as with most applicators included with makeup, this little brush is probably useless to actually apply the blush. It is a little stiff and rough so I don't think it would nicely blend the product on your face.

This blush retails for $7.99 and is available on Milani's website. Keep in mind, if you order online, you will have to pay for shipping. I wouldn't pay $7.99 plus shipping for this blush, but if I could find it on sale at a drugstore I might. Probably in a different color though. I am glad I was able to get this color from their giveaway so I could try it, I would probably never pick up a color like this in store. I would definitely be interested in a bronzer like this, so I will have to check my drugstores that carry Milani and see if I can find one. If you are not a fan of Milani's Facebook page yet, I recommend you do so! They recently did another giveaway for a free lipstick and they have contests often. Who doesn't like free stuff, right? :)
