June Favorites!

I wanted to share my June Favorites with you. I have found myself reaching for these products over and over again in the last month! Some of these are new to me, some I have rediscovered or have been using. All of them I recommend! :)

Bella Bamba blush by Benefit:
I think I actually bought this back in April, but I have really started using it a lot more in the last month. It is such a pretty sparkly pink and gives me a really nice, natural looking flush. It has definitely become one of my favorite (if not my absolute favorite!) blushes. Even the brush that is included works pretty well for a light dusting on your cheeks. This also has a mirror inside the lid which is a neat feature, I don't believe the other box of powders have a mirror. I don't have to worry about it opening in my bag because it has a magnet that keeps it shut pretty securely. I keep the little plastic tray on the top for the brush to sit in so that the corners of the brush handle don't dig into the powder. This is available at Benefit, Macy's, Sephora or Ulta for $28.

Wet n Wild Ultimate Brow Kit:
This is the first and only eyebrow kit I have owned. It works great and is super inexpensive, so I have never needed to look for an alternative. Even the little brush and tweezers that come in it work good. It has a slide out mirror which is really cool, and took me awhile to figure out, lol. (It slides out from the bottom on the powder side.) They only have one color: #963 Ash Brown, but the lighter shade works great for me. It looks like it would be too light for me but it is perfect once I apply it. I use this every day. Since I started using it, I have gotten tons of compliments on how "perfect" my eyebrows look and everyone want to know what I use. You should be able to get it anywhere you usually buy Wet n Wild. It retails for $3.99. Kmart is has Wet n Wild on sale!

L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Gelee:
I LOVE this self tanner. I have been using it for over a year now. It is the best of the self tanners I have tried, which is pretty much every drugstore brand out there. I love it because it dries fast, works well and it doesn't have a super strong smell. There is a smell but it doesn't bother me as much as some of the self tanning products I have tried. It looks natural and wears off pretty evenly. I have found it at Walgreens (It is not on their website any longer, but still worth a try in store!) and Ulta.  Here it is at Walmart and as well if you prefer either of those. (I usually just get it at Ulta to get my points!) It is around $10 regular price depending on where you get it but I have often found it for BOGO 1/2 off at Ulta or Walgreens.

Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden:
This is the travel size that I got with The Black Palette, but it is available full size as well. The regular primer potion works really good but this one seems to work a little better for me. It makes my eyeshadow last all day. I use this almost every day, only switching it up occasionally with one of the several Too Faced Shadow Insurance samples I have. I also have a sample size of Benefit Stay Don't Stray, but I still find I reach for UDPP in Eden the most. The full size is $17 and you can get it at Sephora, Ulta or Urban Decay. (You can also get it in the XL size with 60% more for $23 at Ulta or Urban Decay!)

ELF Studio Cream Eyeliner in Black:
This eyeliner rocks. Since I got it, it has become my go to eyeliner. I use it with an angled eyeliner brush also from ELF's Studio line. I have tried a few other brands, such as Buxom and Wet n Wild and this one has the best consistency and staying power to me. It dries fairly quickly after you apply it and then it pretty much stays put. It has great pigmentation as well, and for only $3 you can't go wrong. I have seen this in store at Target and Kmart as well as the ELF website. It comes with a brush but I find the handle is too short. I highly recommend the ELF Studio Small Angled Brush which is also $3.

Urban Decay Lip Junkie Lipgloss in Wallflower:
This is one of my favorite lip glosses. It is a pinkish nude color that is perfect for if I am feeling lazy and just want a little lipgloss with slight color, but it also works great over lip liner and lipstick. It is semi opaque and doesn't have any sparkle. The texture is wonderful, smooth and creamy. It is not sticky at all. It is supposed to plump but I don't think it really does that for me. It does have a nice minty smell and a cool feeling when you put it on. It doesn't wear a super long time, maybe 2 or 3 hours. That doesn't bother me because I tend to reapply my lip gloss fairly often anyway. It is $19 at Sephora, Ulta or Urban Decay. (Note: As of right now it is sold out at all 3 stores online, but I will leave the links for future reference when they come back in stock. You might just check in store too or call.)

Alright, now that you know my favorites from the last month, I suppose I should let you know about any regrets I might have as well:

ELF Studio Mineral Face Primer. It isn't that it didn't work, I just don't like the applicator. It is a pump and I feel like it releases way more product than you need for one application. It is also quite runny compared to some other primers I have used. I just don't find myself eager to give it more chances. It retails for $6 and I got it half off so at least I'm not out too much money.

Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips: Okay, so it's not that I don't like these, I just don't like them for what they are supposed to be used for. It says these are strips for a Custom Bronzer, Blush and Eyeshadow. These are really pretty, but they are way too shimmery to be used as a bronzer. I have been using them a little, usually just the lighter shades to highlight my cheeks. I think they would work okay as an eyeshadow, but I have never tried that. I just feel like I have enough shimmery neutral eyeshadows. So my complaint is that I got it hoping it would work as a bronzer, and it doesn't. At least not for me. I am sure I will still use these occasionally but I probably wouldn't buy them again. (Not that I would ever have to, there is a lot of product in each!) I got 2 of these during a BOGO 1/2 Off sale at Rite Aid and each had an additional coupon on it, so I ended up paying about $11 total for both. At regular price, they are $13 each.

NOTD with "faux-nads"

I recently ordered the original pack of Bundle Monster nail stamping plates from Amazon. They are known as "Faux-nads" because they are a less expensive version of the Konad Nail Stamping System. The Bundle Monster plates are $17.99 on Amazon with free shipping. It comes with 21 plates, each plate has 6 designs on it. I will review these fully in a separate post (hopefully tomorrow) but I will link them down below for now if you are interested.

I love these so far, they are very easy to use and actually pretty quick as well. I used plate number BM10 for this design. Colors I used were Sally Hansen Diamond Strength in 86 Wedding Bliss for the base and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in 300 White On for the stamped design. I used Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat to seal it all in. I always love Sally Hansen nail polishes, I have a ton of them. The Seche Vite is the best top coat I have used because it dries so fast. Seriously, in 15 minutes, your nails are dry. This is great for me because I usually mess up several before they have a chance to dry. Since I started using Seche Vite, I have perfect nails every time. :)

Urban Decay haul!

It's good to find this box on your porch!
On Tuesday I placed an order on Urban Decay's website for a few clearance items. Today it arrived! I used the free standard shipping with my $50 order and it only took 3 days! I love that! I was going to order their eyeshadow primer potion which normally retails for $18. Then I came across the Box of Potions in the clearance section. It comes with a full size Pore Perfection Complexion Primer, Lip Primer, Eyeshadow Primer and Eyelash primer. This is $29 right now, so I got 3 extra full size primers for $11 more than I would had spent on the eyeshadow primer alone! If you have not tried the Urban Decay Primer Potion yet, I highly recommend it. I love this stuff!

I also got 5 of their loose pigment eyeshadows for $5 each. These are in the clearance section if the website as well and they had many colors available. I haver not used them before, but reviews of them were decent and since they were only $5 I decided to give them a try. From left to right in my photo the colors are Rockstar, Asphyxia, X, Baked and Shag. I tried to go for colors that I liked and did not already have in pressed form in an Urban Decay Palette.

I also got a bunch free samples. They have a promotion going through June 30th to get 3 free deluxe samples and free shipping with any $50 order. The deluxe samples are Afterglow Glide-On Cheek Tint in Quickie, Lip Junkie Lipgloss in Wallflower and Primer Potion in Greed. There is also a Pocket Rocket lipgloss sample in Doug which is one of the standard samples you would get with any order.

I am excited to try all the primers and will let you know what I think. If you already use and love the Eyeshadow Primer Potion than the Box of Potions is a great way to try out the rest of the Urban Decay primers for super cheap. I am also looking forward to trying the pigments though my expectations are not too high. From the review I have read, the colors are great but the applicator is hard to work with. I will probably end up transferring them to sifter jars to make them easier to use. I already have the full size Lip Junkie in Wallflower and another sample size one of it and I LOVE it. It is one of my favorite lipglosses so I am happy to have another mini to keep in my purse. The rest of the samples will be fun to try as they are all new to me!

I will post reviews and swatches of this stuff soon. I have a lot of Wet n Wild to catch up on since I took advantage of the Kmart BOGO Free sale. Hopefully I will be able to play with all this new stuff this weekend and get some pictures up for you.

Shop Urban Decay! Get your order in before midnight PST on June 30th if you want to try the deluxe samples!

Wet n Wild BOGO FREE!

This photo is from the Kmart website.
Wet n Wild is Buy One Get One FREE at Kmart now through July 11! I found this advertised on their website in one of the circular ads. It is not the normal weekly ad and there were not sale signs posted by Wet n Wild in the store. When they ring you up, it should discount every second item for you automatically.

This is an excellent deal for products I don't mind paying regular price for anyway. Wet n Wild is already an great buy normally since they offer good quality products at low prices. So BOGO Free rocks! I highly recommend checking this out, I know I am going to!

LOTD: Wet n Wild The Gilded Age

I did my makeup today with the intentions of posting a LOTD. Well, I forgot to take pictures before I left home. (Grr!) I was so disappointed, but I decided to do a LOTD anyway from my phone. (Luckily you can do so much with cell phones these days!) So this is me, sitting in my car and here is my look. :)

I used the Wet n Wild trio in The Gilded Age for this look. It is a summer limited edition trio that you will find at your local drugstore in a display with a limited edition bronzer. It is $2.99 (the bronzer is the same price) and I have seen it at Walgreens, Fred Meyer and Bartell.

Here is what I used to create this look:

Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Wet n Wild Idol Eyes Cream Shadow Pencil in Pixie (as a base)
Wet n Wild The Gilded Age Trio
   - Brow bone shade in inner corners, under inner lower lashline and to highlight
   - Eyelid shade allover lid and blended into crease a little
   - Crease shade in outer V, smudged under outer lower lashline
ELF Cream eyeliner in Black for all lining
NYX single eyeshadow in Black over cream liner on waterline
BUXOM Lash Mascara in Black Noir

Benefit Bella Bamba

Jordana Easyliner in Rock n' Rose
NYX round lipstick in Thalia
Maybelline lipgloss in First Light in in middle of lips

Wet n Wild Ultimate Brow Kit in Ash Brown (lighter shade)

These colors are just gorgeous on and I definitely think this is a must have trio. Since it is a cell phone camera, I don't think the difference in colors is coming across very well. Click the link below to see my original swatches of The Gilded Age. These photos are much more true to how the colors show up. The brow bone shade is a light pinkish champagne color but it looks gold in this picture. Also the crease shade isn't showing up as dark, it is a rich deep bronze in person. All of the colors are well pigmented and have a great texture. They were easy to blend without losing too much pigmentation. As for length of wear, so far so good.

L'Oreal HiP Studio Secrets Professional Shocking Shadow Pigments

Intrepid and Visionary
I found these L'Oreal HiP Pigments on Clearance at Walgreens today so I thought I would give them a try. Intrepid was $3.19 and Visionary was $6.19. The original price was around $12, so I think I got a pretty good deal. Walgreens also has a BOGO Half Off deal on L'Oreal products, so that applied as well and saved me another $1.60. Both came with a mini eyeshadow brush as well.

Intrepid is a dark reddish brown that reflects blue. Visionary is a warm gold color. I took photos of them next to a full size and charm size of MAC pigments for comparison. They are very tiny, but obviously quite a bit cheaper if you can find them on clearance like I did. Both apply well and have good pigmentation and texture. Visionary is slightly chunkier in texture but I was able to blend it out and get an even swatch. Here are the swatches!

Intrepid immediately reminded me of MAC's Blue Brown pigment when I swatched it, so I did comparison swatches of the two. It looks identical. Intrepid is an exact dupe of MAC Blue Brown pigment and I have seen it listed as a dupe on other websites. I believe on Temptalia's Dupe List they say it is a 90% match but I have to disagree. I would say it is 100% match. Intrepid is the one that was $3.19 on clearance too, so if you are into Blue Brown you should check out your local Walgreens and see if they have any.

Temptalia's Dupe List
L'Oreal HiP Pigments (These are on the L'Oreal website at full price)

Drugstore Haul: Reviews and swatches coming soon!

All Wet n Wild products are buy 2 get 1 free at Fred Meyer right now so naturally I had to take advantage of that. I got all the Wet n Wild you see in the picture except the lipsticks at Fred Meyer. I actually found a better deal on Wet n Wild lip products at Walgreens: all 50% off. I paid $0.49 for each lipstick. The two L'Oreal HIP pigments were on clearance for $3.19 and $6.19, so I decided to give those a try as well. I believe they were around $12 originally. Lastly, there is a Jordana lipliner in the photo. The color is Rock n' Rose. This is just something I have been wanting to try and well, it was at Walgreens. I will have swatches up for these products soon! :)

Rite Aid Mini Haul

Jesse's Girl Eye Dusts, Wet n Wild Pixie and concealer
I recently saw some swatches of the Jesse's Girl Eye Dust loose eyeshadows online and decided to check them out. They looked decently pigmented in the swatches I saw, and I really liked the colors. The only place I could find in my area that sold these is Rite Aid. I ended up getting 4 colors and they were $3.99 each. I picked up a couple of Wet n Wild items as well, all Wet n Wild is Buy One Get One 1/2 Off this week. In my swatches, the colors from left to right are Sunlight Cactus, Mardi Gras, Blackstar Blue and Ultra Violet. Underneath are the two Wet n Wild items I got, the Idol Eyes Cream Eye pencil in Pixie on top and Wet n Wild Cover All Concealer in Light-Medium underneath.
No Flash
The above swatches are on the back of my hand on my bare skin. No primers or bases were used. These have pretty good pigmentation without a base or primer, and I only expect them to look better with one! I really like the colors I got and once I wear these and see how well they last I may go get a few more.

Parfait Amour Four Ways...

Here are some quick swatches of MAC Parfait Amour. It is such a beautiful purple. I wanted to try some different bases to see what works and really makes it pop. All the swatches are applied on the back of my hand using my finger. From left to right in the photo: Too Faced First Base, NYX Eyeshadow Base in White, with no primer or base and the last is over Wet n Wild Idol Eyes cream shadow pencil in Techno. I love the way it looks over Techno! :)

ELF Essentials Brush Set for $1.20

ELF Essential 12 Piece
Professional Brush Set
Get this 12 Piece Professional Brush Set from ELF for just $1.20 when you use code 12FOR120 at checkout by June 20. These are their Essential brushes, the ones that are normally $1 each, so this deal gets you 90% off. To get this deal, your order must be a minimum of $20.

You really can't beat the price on these, even regular price! I have a couple of the eyeshadow brushes from the Essentials line and they are pretty decent quality, especially considering how inexpensive they are.

My MAC finds at the CCO

I told you about the CCO earlier this week and provided a link to find one near you in This Post. Just to give you an idea of what kind of stuff you might be able to find there, here is what I have found. Keep in mind, selection will vary by location, with some (I assume) having a way better selection than mine. I also got a few of these items as early as this past March when I discovered the CCO so a couple of things may have sold out by now. Yours may or may not have the same products but again, this is just to give you an idea and share my finds. Many of them are limited edition or discontinued items but a few are still part of the regular line. I will designate the regular line items with an *asterisks. I'll also put a price guide for what I paid for everything versus the regular price so you can get an idea of cost. :)

Possible Dupes for MAC Tweet Me

Earlier this year, MAC had a collection called Peacocky. All of the eyeshadows released with this collection were called Mega Metal eyeshadows and they had a nice metallic finish. Well I knew nothing about MAC at the time, so I completely missed this collection. (It was actually this year's Surf Baby collection that got me into MAC.) However, I was able to pick up one of the Mega Metal eyeshadows at my local CCO. It is a beautiful golden peachy color called Tweet Me, and if I had known about the collection originally this is definitely a color I would have purchased. Lucky me that they had this color alone at my CCO. (I am hoping they will get more Mega Metal eyeshadows in but you never know!)

I actually bought Tweet Me about a week ago and have worn it a couple of times since. It is such a pretty color and I love the metallic finish. I decided to try comparing it to all the other eyeshadows I have that are a similar color to see if there was anything close. After doing these swatches together, I definitely think Tweet Me is unique because of that Mega Metal finish, but I did have one eyeshadow that looked identical based on the color. The Ulta brand eyeshadow in Sunburst looks the same as Tweet Me, it just has a less metallic sheen to it. I tried a few other colors I had that I thought were kind of in the same realm but none were very close. The two Benefit eyeshadows I swatched were Cha Cha and Bambi, both of these are now discontinued. They are from the Show Offs loose powders Benefit used to have. (I loved these, I wish they still sold them!) I also swatched one Bare Minerals eyeshadow in Sangria, but it was far too coral. Here are the results:

As I mentioned above, I think the Ulta brand eyeshadow in Sunburst could serve as a dupe for the MAC Mega Metal eyeshadow in Tweet Me. Again, the finish is a little different, with Sunburst having less of a metallic sheen, but they are quite close. If you missed out on the Mega Metal eyeshadows and like Tweet Me, I think Ulta Sunburst would work just fine for you.

Have you heard about the CCO?

CCO stands for Cosmetics Company Outlet. (It is also sometimes called the Cosmetics Company Store.) These stores can be found at outlet malls and carry Estee Lauder brands. Besides Estee Lauder, you will find MAC, Bobbi Brown, Clinique and Origins. I have also heard that Stila can be found here but I have not seen any Stila products at my local CCO. There is no official website for this store, at least not that I could find. I don't believe they advertise at all actually. I found out about it because I knew someone who went there.

All of the products are sold at discounted prices, usually around 30% off. The products they have are likely to be discontinued or limited edition items. This means that the makeup you are getting could be a year old already, but personally this doesn't bother me. It is all brand new and still in the original packaging. Sometimes you will even find current products sold here. They supposedly get shipments in once a month, usually at the end of the month and the new product should be out within the first several days of the next month.

This is also a great place to buy perfumes. I was able to purchase Coach Poppy at a discounted price here. They also carry Michael Kors Very Hollywood, Island Bermuda and several others of his. They of course had the Estee Lauder brand perfumes. I don't recall seeing them but I would be willing to bet that they have the Clinique Happy perfumes as well.

The last time I went to my local CCO, I purchased several MAC products. I bought the Truth & Light Liquid Powder from the Venomous Villains collection (that powder is now part of the permanent line), Flurry of Fun lipglass from the To The Beach collection last summer and about 8 eyeshadows. The eyeshadows I got from the permanent collection are Parfait Amour, Tilt and Shroom. I also picked up Prepped for Glamour, Crazy Cool, Haunting, Dame's Desire and Tweet Me, all limited edition from recent collections. I have also purchased MAC pigments there in the past, including the mini pigment sets from Christmas 2010 that each had 5 small vials of different pigments. I can't comment too much on the other brands there since I usually am focused on the MAC stuff.

If you don't mind getting an product that is older but still unused in original packaging, then I recommend checking out the CCO. If you are looking for a product that has been recently discontinued, then the CCO is definitely the way to go.

Clinique Bonus Time!

I love free stuff. You know, the kind that you have to spend money to get? So it's not free exactly, but it is always fun to get bonus gifts with your purchase. Right now is Clinique Bonus Time at Nordstrom. I always see these and usually I'm not interested because I don't like the bag. This time it is a cute colorful printed bag by Trina Turk. I like bright colors and fun patterns, and I actually have been needing a new makeup bag. I decided this is the time to try some Clinique products. When you open the bonus makeup bag, all the little samples are bundled together in a plastic bag. Here is what's inside:

Clinique's Bonus Time gifts usually have a pretty good amount of samples in them. This one had a full size lipstick in "A Different Grape," a mini Lash Doubling Mascara, mini Take The Day Off makeup remover, mini Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion, two mini lipglosses that hook on a keychain (I couldn't find the name of the colors on either of them.), mini All About Eyes cream and mini Redness Solutions Instant Relief Mineral Powder with a mini brush. I have used their lipsticks and lipglosses in the past and remember liking them. The Dramatically Different Moisturizer I have also used, and I believe I liked it too. I am sure I have used the makeup remover as well at some point. The purchases I made to get this bonus gift were actually my first Clinique purchases ever. The products I have used in the past were all items my mom had when I lived at home. If she didn't like a bonus item she would give it to me and often I would sneak into her room and use her makeup when I was a kid. I only have a couple lipsticks now, both were given to me. I did not have this color though, so they must use different colors every time they do bonus gifts. Here are some swatches and a closeup of the lipstick "A Different Grape."

To get this bonus gift, you have to spend $25. I decided to get a couple items I didn't already have (in any brand) so I picked up their brush cleaner and spot treatment gel to try out. I had not used either of those products before but have read good reviews online. If you are interested in Clinique, then this is a good way to try out a bunch of their products. I would pick one or two full size products you are interested in that will total more than $25 and then you will be able to try all these products as well and get a cute makeup bag. I picked two products that were not included in the bonus gift to maximize the amount of new products I get to try. If nothing else, their perfume Clinique Happy smells wonderful!  :)
