Swatched: Urban Decay The Black Palette

I love the dark colors in this palette. When I saw it in the store and swatched the colors on my hand, I knew I had to buy it. This is one of the things I ordered from Sephora that arrived about a week ago. My initial thought was that these colors would be great for creating smoky eye looks in all shades. Upon further review, I think they will also be great used as base colors for darker looks.

The Black Palette includes 6 colors of eyeshadow that all have a black base:
-Stray Dog is a matte black
-Barracuda is a dark grey with silver sparkle
-Jet is a dark pinkish purple with pink sparkle
-Sabbath is a dark blue with blue sparkle
-Cobra is a black gold with gold sparkle
-Libertine is a dark green with green sparkle

The palette comes with a mini Primer Potion in Eden, a matte skin tone colored eyeshadow base. It is swatched on the left above. It also includes a mini 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero, which is black. This is swatched on the right in the photo above. Below are swatches of all the eyeshadow colors both with and without the flash. (The photo without the flash is taken indoors using artificial lighting.) The swatches from left to right are: Libertine, Cobra, Sabbath, Jet, Barracuda and Black Dog. (Reverse the order in the palette, I apologize!) All of these swatches are on clean bare skin and applied dry.

I can't wait to create some looks using this palette. I hadn't used it yet because I wanted to make sure I got before pictures. I think my favorites so far, based on the swatches, are going to be Black Dog, Jet and Sabbath. I will definitely post some makeup looks using these once I play around with it a little.

I think this palette is really unique, I can't say that I have many black based eyeshadow colors. I always love the quality of UD eyeshadows and their primer potion. I don't really use eyeliner pencils all too often but when I do it is usually a 24/7 pencils. They glide on so smooth and seem to stay quite well. (I just don't like eye pencils because I don't feel like I have as much control.) Overall, I think this was a great purchase and I expect to get a lot of use out of it. Thanks for looking and stay tuned for more! :)
